Hand Clapping when we sing.
Hand clapping in Army meetings is the continuance of a custom started at a time when most members of the congregation were more familiar with the singing in music halls than in church.

The rhythm of the popular songs lent itself to hand clapping, and when the same melodies were used in Army meetings it was natural to clap there as well. The Army used popular music of the day, because William Booth said 'why should the devil have all the good music'.

Our Sunday Services (meetings) are informal, family-friendly and relaxed. They are open to anyone, not just people who are members of The Salvation Army.

You don’t have to wear a uniform either - in fact about 35% our congregation don’t.

We use multimedia and believe wholeheartedly in the all age worship concept.
